Christian Boger

Christian Boger was born in Annville Township, Lancaster County (now Lebanon County) on December 29, 1747 to Mathias and Anna Magdalena (Wampfler) Boger.  He married Barbara _____ sometime before 1775.  They had four children:  John (1775), Christian (1776), Martin (1777) and Maria Magdalena (1778 or 1779).

In 1770, Christian was assessed in Lebanon Township, Lancaster County (now Lebanon County).

During 1777, he served as a private in the 7th Company, 6th Battalion, 1st Class Lancaster County Militia under the command of Captain William Laird.

Shortly after his service he and his family moved to Brothersvalley Township, Bedford County (now Somerset County).

He died on July 29, 1779 and is one of the first, if not the first, person buried in the German Reformed Cemetery in Berlin Borough.  The cemetery is located along the south side of North Street at its intersection with 5th Avenue.  His wife Barbara and children returned to Lancaster County.  Her burial site is most likely in Lebanon County, although there is a stone in the Reformed Cemetery next to Christian Sr.’s gravesite, which may mark her burial site.  Their son Christian and his wife returned to Somerset County and settled in Brothersvalley Township.  Christian Jr. and his wife are both buried in the Pine Hill Cemetery in the village of Pine Hill, Brothersvalley Township.
