Christian Miller

Christian Miller was born around 1750 most likely in eastern Pennsylvania.  He married a woman named Christina about 1770.  They had eight children (3 boys, 4 girls and one additional child that is unnamed).

Their children were:

1.        Unknown child who either died young or was gone from the home by 1790

2.       Barbara married John Blough

3.       Mary (Polly) married Samuel Rhoads

4.       Tobias was born in 1776 and married Anna Miller and then later Mary Goodheart

5.       Christian was born in 1779 and married Susanna Musser and then later a woman named Elizabeth

6.       Jacob was born in 1781 and married first Sarah Lehman and then Sarah Kauffman

7.       Veronica was born in 1783 and married Henry Lehman

8.       Elizabeth married Peter Swartzentruber

Many of the children and their spouses remained in Stonycreek Township.  Tobias moved to Conemaugh Township, Elizabeth went to Somerset Township and Veronica was in Brothersvalley Township; all were in Somerset County.

Christian warranted a 295 ½ acre parcel in Quemahoning Township on September 30, 1784 (now Stonycreek Township).  It was situated on the waters of Stony Creek.

He paid the Supply Tax in Brothersvalley Township, Bedford County in 1783.

His son Christian later acquired the home place of his father.  The farm remained in the Miller family for over 200 years.

He along with several generations of family members are buried in the Miller family burial plot located on the original warrant in Stonycreek Township.
